Ruth Langsford has given fans a heartfelt update on her cherished canine companion, Maggie, amidst the ongoing custody tussle with her former partner Eamonn Holmes. The Loose Women star and the GB News presenter, who parted ways in a surprising turn of events last May, have been at odds over who gets to keep their beloved pet.

Ruth has kept her followers in the loop with news about Maggie's wellbeing, while Eamonn's social media has been noticeably devoid of the pooch's presence.

The 14-year-old dog recently underwent a veterinary procedure to remove a growth, prompting Ruth to share updates and endearing snaps of Maggie relaxing at home. This came shortly after Eamonn posted an affectionate picture with Maggie, captioning it: "A lot of you wondering about Maggie. She's had an op to remove a growth. All well. Not bad for a 14-year-old! In fact she's in better shape than me."

Over the weekend, Maggie enjoyed some quality time with Ruth and her mother, snuggling up for cuddles. Interrupting her grandmother's afternoon nap, Maggie seemed unbothered as Ruth playfully commented: "Another afternoon nap for Grandma disturbed!" And added, "Not a bit sorry", seemingly sending a pointed message as Maggie looked on adoringly.

Maggie once graced the set of This Morning during Ruth and Eamonn's tenure as hosts. In a 2016 episode, before bringing Maggie on air, Ruth posed the question to the audience: "If we were to split, Eamonn and I, who would Maggie choose?" After the segment, she concluded that Maggie's affections were "equal," although Eamonn observed that he was the first to be greeted by their furry friend.

Ruth Langsford recently gave an update on her beloved dog's wellbeing, telling followers: "Maggie had a little wart removed this morning under sedation so she's feeling a bit sorry for herself this afternoon! Lots of TLC from Mummy required."

She went on to express her gratitude, saying: "Thank you [St George's Veterinary Centre] for looking after our precious girl."

Amidst personal challenges, Ruth and her estranged husband, who became husband and wife back in 2010 and are parents to their 22-year-old son Jack along with their furry friend Maggie, remain tight-lipped about the real reasons behind their separation.

However, insiders close to the Loose Women star have hinted that the split is final, with Ruth feeling deeply wounded upon discovering that another woman has been comforting her husband post-split.

At the TRIC awards earlier in June, Eamonn Holmes opened up to The Mirror: "I'm not OK. This is not a good time at all."

Probed about what lies ahead for him and Ruth, Eamonn expressed his uncertainty but voiced his hope: "It's too early to say but I hope we can still be friends."

The two TV personalities first sparked a romance in 1997 and tied the knot some 14 years later, before they went separate ways this past May.
