Giovanni Pernice's ex drowns sorrows over split on hols but risks fury over 'illegal' post

Model Molly Brown jetted off to Paris yesterday, following the news that she and Giovanni Pernice have split.

It isn't the first time the pair have unfollowed each other and removed all traces of each other from their Instagram accounts, sparking hopes they could reconcile in the future. However, Molly seemed to be in high spirits as a single woman as she and a female pal enjoyed the nightlife in the French capital.

Molly posted several photos of herself with the illuminated Eiffel Tower glowing gold behind her - but there is a slight issue. It is illegal to publish any photo of the famous structure after dark due to a largely unknown copyright law.

Many selfie-seekers are unaware of the law, but in France, the tower is officially classed as a work of art, under the copyright law of the late engineer Pierre Bideau. La Société d’Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel (SETE) states that anyone wanting to publish a nighttime photo of the tower - even for private Instagram accounts - must get official consent, pay for rights and post a credit to the artist, or they could be at risk of a fine.

In reality, it seems unlikely that Molly would get into any trouble, as posting uncredited selfies at the iconic spot is already very common, and she does not seem to be using the photo for commercial purposes. Pro photographer Marc Nouss addressed the issue with Conde Nast Traveller, admitting: "We are talking about a monument photographed thousands of times per day.

"I still shoot it without mentioning anything, as everyone does, but I wouldn’t take the risk by selling one taken at night."

Capturing a photo of the famous tower on a phone or camera remains legal - but it is sharing it that could attract a fine.

Molly was enjoying a selfie spree, also posting pics on her hotel room's balcony, while she has left the beloved Pomeranian puppy she and Giovanni are thought to have purchased together this summer in the care of a friend.

She attracted a string of likes for the snaps, which she captioned: "Postcard from Paris."

Molly and Giovanni are said to have split shortly before his UK-wide tour with Anton du Beke, titled Together, drew to a close.

As the last show in Salford drew to a dramatic close, Giovanni declared an unnamed woman "mad" and added: "Let's see what [she's] got to say next."

He was gently warned by Anton, who told him: "You can't say that!"

Meanwhile, Giovanni has confirmed he expects to be cleared of all wrongdoing following a BBC probe amid allegations that he was "abusive" and "cruel" to his 2023 Strictly partner Amanda Abbington.
