Coronation Street star Andy Whyment is no stranger to reality TV when not appearing on the ITV soap. The 43-year-old actor, best known for his role as the loveable Kirk Sutherland, has previously continued to capture the hearts of the nation with appearances on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice.

Now, the Salford-born actor has opened up on if he would ever set his sights on another show, away from the Cobbles. Speaking at the Sedulo Colour Ball in Manchester, Andy told Express.co.uk: "I love playing Kirk. I've always said I'll stay at Corrie for as long as they will have me."

When asked if he would ever appear on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing to make a trifecta of reality TV shows, Andy said: "No, I doubt it." He explained: "We're not allowed to do it. It's BBC so unless you leave Corrie, then you can't.

"Ellie Leach was on it last year, but she left Coronation Street. She was amazing."

Ellie, 23, is known for playing the role of Faye Windass on the ITV soap between 2011 and 2023. Following her exit from the soap, she won the twenty-first series of the BBC contest Strictly Come Dancing.

Andy, however, admitted that there was one show that he would consider - ITV's Big Brother. The actor said that he enjoyed watching his co-star Colson Smith, Corrie's Craig Tinker, on the Celebrity Big Brother reboot last year, as he added: "I've always liked Big Brother."

Referring to the diet he endured while appearing on I'm a Celeb, the soap star joked: "And you don't have to starve do you in Big Brother."

Andy took part in the 2012 series of Dancing on Ice and was paired up with professional skater Vicky Ogden. He was the ninth celebrity to leave the ITV show that year, after facing off against Chemmy Alcott in the final vote.

When he was voted off, the actor described Dancing on Ice as an "absolutely amazing time" and said that professional partner Vicky Ogden would be "a friend for life".

In 2019, he participated in the nineteenth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and finished in second place. He entered the camp on day five, being one of the two late arrivals, along with EastEnders star Cliff Parisi.

Unfortunately, he was pipped to the post, losing to winner and EastEnders actress, Jacqueline Jossa. In 2023, he joined the jungle once more for I'm a Celebrity... South Africa.

It was an All-Star version of the popular ITV show, featuring campmates from previous series. Mylene Klass was crowned the winner.
