Piers Morgan called for Sir Keir Starmer to resign if one thing goes wrong this evening.

Starmer, 61, became the new Prime Minister following a historic win in the recent General Election. Kicking off his new role, the Labour Party leader got on a flight to Washington to attend the NATO Summit.

He was questioned by the press while on board, with one probing the politician about England's upcoming game against the Netherlands in the Euros.

Someone asked: "What’s your advice to Gareth Southgate for leading a team to victory?" To which Starmer simply responded: "Win!" Starmer will be at the NATO summit with 31 other leaders, including Dutch PM Dick Schoof, during the Euros semi-final this evening (July 10).

He told reporters: "Our phones are all taken off us, when we go into the council, so I’ve no doubt we’ll be passed lots of notes with really important information about the summit. One or two of those notes hopefully will be an update on the score, because I’m not going to be able to get it otherwise."

Starmer added: "England have not missed a penalty under a Labour government in 2024." Under the post, The Guardian's political editor Pippa Crerar declared: "What a way to jinx it!"

Piers re-shared the post, adding the caption: " OMG - if England now lose on penalties tonight, Starmer will have to resign." It comes after the broadcaster praised Novak Djokovic for being a "monumental d***" at Wimbledon before offering the tennis star an interview.

The former world No 1 stormed out of a BBC interview on Monday hours after he branded the Centre Court crowd "disrespectful".

He became frustrated with the line of questioning and having already asked the interviewer to move on from asking about his spat with the audience, the 37-year-old cut the conversation short.

While Djokovic has been criticised for his outbursts at Wimbledon, Morgan praised the 24-time Grand Slam champion for behaving like a "monumental d***" and hitting back at what he perceives to be unfair hostility.

The TalkTV host wrote on X: “Djokovic is being a monumental d*ck at Wimbledon this year, and I’m all here for it. He deserves way more respect than he gets, from fans & media, and he’s obviously bored with pretending he’s OK with it. Let’s do an interview, @DjokerNole - I won’t treat you like this."
