David Beckham takes cheeky swipe at fans after they ridiculed him for new hobby

David Beckham has been warned not to "give up the day job" as he tries his hand at a new hobby, but his approach is what's really left fans scratching their heads.

David Beckham thanks fans for gardening advice

David Beckham left fans with more questions than answers last week and made matters worse with his latest upload.

The footballing legend took to Instagram over the weekend to give fans an insight into his newfound hobby - gardening.

David, 49, shared two clips of himself getting his hands dirty as he attempted to plant his own Queen of Sweden rose shrub in his lavish garden.

For his fun day out in the open, David looked super trendy in a fitted grey polo, paired with denim jeans and a cap.

While everything appeared to be normal about his choice of outfit - the ex-England captain decided to ditch his footwear and go barefoot.

This odd decision certainly didn't go unnoticed by fans who dashed to the comments section to quiz him on it.

One fan @middletonlodge wrote: "Digging barefoot is giving me the heebees," as @margaret_twitchings pointed out: "It’s easier to dig with shoes on David!"

Meanwhile, other fans saw the funny side of David's choice to go barefoot, with @staceyvendittelli suggesting: "He should have taken his shirt off as well....just sayin'."

And @d.n.i.c.s gushed: "Bare feet on the grass is the best! So many benefits to grounding/earthing," with @hornsby_style being distracted by something completely different: "It’s the can of Stella for me."

After initially struggling to get the plant out of the plastic container, elsewhere in the comment section fans shared their tips to help David solve this problem, which prompted him to provide another update.

In his update video, David explained how he had taken his followers' advice and proceeded to use it to plant his Queen of Sweden.

Not only did David listen to fans' advice when it came to gardening, but he also seemed to take on board some fashion tips... to some extent anyway.

"Happy Sunday," David exclaimed, as he pointed out: "At least I've got socks on and not barefoot," before going off camera to show his feet, which were wearing a pair of beige socks.
