Dr Michael Mosley's wife shares agony of 'unbearable' search for missing husband

Dr Michael Mosley's wife has opened up on the "unbearable" search for him on the island of Symi.

The family have all arrived in Symi to join the efforts to look for the TV doctor after he went missing on Wednesday, June 5.

His wife Clare and his four children have been looking for Dr Mosley near the town of Pedi as he was last seen heading towards a mountain trail known as Agia Marina.

She has now opened up about the search for her husband and vowed not to lose hope, telling MailOnline: "It has been three days since Michael left the beach to go for a walk. The longest and most unbearable days for myself and my children."

She explained the search is ongoing and added that the family are "incredibly grateful" to the residents of Symi, Greek authorities and the British Consulate who are helping to find him.

Dr Mosley, 67, was last seen on Wednesday afternoon when he spent the morning with his wife and her two friends at the beach.

Searches have continued since he was first reported missing, with the mayor of Symi vowing that an extensive search operation will continue until he is found.

Police, firefighters, drones and divers are all involved in the active search, which his family has also joined and their children have flown out to support in the efforts too.

Symi's mayor Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas has issued multiple statements on Saturday morning to provide reassurance that the search will not be winding down. 

He voiwed there is "no chance" the search will be called off until he is found. A concern during the search is the heat which came in at 40C the day the TV doctor disappeared.

The area Dr Mosley is believed to have travelled through is "difficult to pass" and is "only rocks", with "loads" of snakes.

He added how he hopes Dr Mosley is found "safe and alive".

Firefighters have pulled in the help of a drone to continue looking through the mountains to find Dr Michael Mosley.
