Eamonn Holmes shares post about Irish romance as Ruth Langsford left 'hurt'

Eamonn Holmes seemed to dismiss the furore surrounding his alleged affair by taking to Instagram to share a throwback post from a classic Irish romance. This follows reports of his wife Ruth Langsford, 64, grappling with their separation and rumours of his possible friendship with another woman, causing her to take a leave of absence from Loose Women for the rest of the month.

Holmes, 64, chose to focus on nostalgia rather than the current situation, posting an image from the 1952 film The Quiet Man, starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara. He penned his fondness for the cinematic piece, stating: "Probably my favourite film ever. A Romantic view of Ireland. Amazingly released 72 years ago."

Fans promptly engaged, sharing their own love for the movie in the comments. One user remarked: "They just don't make films like that anymore. I've read that Maureen was his favourite leading lady and I can see why."

The TV presenter is said to have treated her to various events, including a safari park visit in February, a Manchester United match, Centre Parcs, and even a Beyonce concert.

Their growing closeness over the past year has been noted, as a source close to Eamonn revealed earlier this month that his companion is "bowled over by being lavished with attention and kindness from him".

The news of these excursions is believed to have come as a shock to Ruth Langsford, contributing significantly to their decision to end their marriage. She's also reportedly "deeply upset" by insinuations that her husband's health issues played a part in their split.

"Ruth was hurt when she learned about Eamonn's friendship with another woman but she is strong and she will be back soon with a smile on her face, putting her best foot forward, as she always does.
