‘Hidden-gem’ destination is one of the cheapest to visit and 'untouched by mass tourism'

When it comes to travelling there are so many destinations to choose from that we sometimes can’t decide where to go next.
So if you’re stuck for ideas, then we might have the location for you.

She spoke exclusively to the Express about one destination we should be visiting that is off the radar.
So where is the destination that she is referring to? Oman.

It is located on the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Oman’s natural wonders include dramatic mountains, long golden shores with palm trees and groves of citrus trees.
With year-round sun and an abundance of both glamorous and affordable hotels and restaurants stretching along the Gulf coastline, there has never been a better time to experience this contrasting place.
Some of the most well-known tourist attractions include the Al Alam Palace by the sea, Muscat Old Town and Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, but there's plenty more to experience when in Oman.

When is the best time to visit Oman?
The best time to visit Oman is during the cooler winter months, from November to March.
During this time, temperatures in Oman range from 25°C to 30°C, making it a perfect time to explore the country.
It is worth avoiding Oman in the summer months as it can be extremely hot. However, when it comes to the southern coast of Dhofar, Salalah they are worth going between June and September as the climate is much more suitable.
How to get there?
There are three airlines which fly to Muscat (Muscat International Airport).
These include Oman Air, Lufthansa and Emirates. Sadly these are all from London Heathrow but if you plan to fly there from elsewhere in the UK you can have to catch a stopover flight.
The total flight duration from London, United Kingdom to Oman is seven hours, 53 minutes.
Meanwhile, according to the government website, to enter Oman, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least six months after the date you arrive.
Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet the requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.
You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.
