Mum shares 'simple' travel hack which helped her book £508 holiday for family of three

A thrifty mum has shared her secrets on how she manages to take her family on a summer holiday without spending a fortune.

As the summer season approaches, many of us contemplate booking a family holiday abroad. The prospect of swimming, sunshine, relaxation, adventures, and delicious food is enticing when we're in need of a break. However, for many parents, the financial strain coupled with the exorbitant prices of trips during school holidays often makes it unfeasible.

Mum Nicole, mother to a daughter and a son, divulged her life hacks and travel tips on her TikTok page @nicoleturnerbell. The holiday enthusiast, who works as an account in education, frequently shares how she manages to enjoy luxury breaks with her family without breaking the bank.

Thanks to a few simple tricks, she has been able to visit Dubai, Turkey, Thailand, and most recently Greece.

The 28 year old mum is often queried about how she finds such affordable holidays, and recently she shared a step-by-step guide on how others can follow suit. Nicole revealed: "I've recently been to Corfu for £508 for three of us, so this is how I do it. I go on Skyscanner, I go Manchester to everywhere."

She continued: "I put the date in that I want to go and it comes up the cheapest places to go. So, if it came up to say Corfu I'd click, have a look at those dates and see which airline that is with. In that instance it was TUI so I knew that my cheapest way of getting a holiday to Corfu was to go with TUI."

Nicole then visited the website, input the dates she knew had cheap flights, and browsed the most affordable hotels at her chosen destination. Before finalising her booking, she made sure to check for any available discount codes. This time around, she booked both her flights and accommodation through TUI as it proved to be the most cost-effective option, but she advises checking whether booking separately could save you more money.

Reacting to the video, one TikTok user shared: "I did this! In Rhodes with my son as we speak, booked on Friday night was in Rhodes by Saturday teatime." "Snap it's what I do," chimed in another.

One viewer expressed their desperation for a holiday in Puerto de la Cruz in August 2025, but lamented that the cost was a minimum of £1250. To this, Nicole suggested: "It might be better looking last minute."

Nicole often leaves her bookings until the day before to snag the best deals, and suggests that booking summer holidays in January can also yield great savings. She also recommends Turkey as an excellent and affordable destination for families.
