Federer is one win away from returning to world number one after booking his place in the quarter-finals with a 7-6(8) 7-5 win over Philipp Kohlschreiber.
But the Swiss superstar was made to sweat by the 34-year-old German after Kohlschreiber forced the first set into a tie-break.
Despite pushing Federer throughout, Kohlschreiber couldn’t quite find a way past the 20-times Grand Slam champion.
But in a moment of magic, Kohlschreiber couldn’t resist mocking Federer with a stunning no-look drop shot to win a point mid-way through the second set.

After an impressive instinctive return from Federer, Kohlschreiber met it with a stunning no-look drop shot to win the point.
It’s safe to say, Federer was not impressed with his opponent’s on court antics but the crowd clearly were.
After beating Kohlschreiber, Federer faced local favourite Robin Haase in the last eight today.
The 36-year-old beat the Dutchman 4-6 6-1 6-1 to reach the semi-finals and overtake Rafael Nadal at the top of the rankings.
Federer has now reclaimed the world number one ranking for the first time since November 2012.

Federer has surpassed American Andre Agassi as the oldest world number one after winning the quarter-final clash in Rotterdam.
He as also set another record of the longest gap (five years and 106 days) between periods as number one.
He already holds the record for most weeks spent at number one, having topped the rankings for a combined 302 weeks.
Federer beat Marin Cilic back in January to win the Australian Open, taking his Grand Slam title triumphs to 20.
