Stefanos Tsitsipas has explained how he navigates his relationship with fellow tennis player Paula Badosa ahead of Wimbledon.

The Greek star and the former world No. 2 have been together for more than a year and were cruelly forced to pull out of the mixed doubles event at the All England Club 12 months ago when Badosa suffered a back injury.

With several tennis power couples playing at SW19 this year, Tsitsipas told Express Sport how he and Badosa juggle their tennis with their personal lives.

“It’s kind of well-balanced I would say. We do talk about tennis as a normal - I mean, that’s our job at the end of the day,” the 11-time title winner said.

“But we have other interests away from tennis too and that keeps us pretty sane, I would say. We have other things that I would try and do or other activities that kind of entertain us and make us feel like a union when we are away from the tennis courts.”

Tsitsipas and Badosa broke up at the beginning of May after a year together. But they were spotted out together just a few weeks later and subsequently confirmed that they had reunited. Since then, they have been finding ways to switch off from tennis.

Sharing their latest shared interest away from the court, Tsitsipas continued: “Like now, during our short vacation or break that we had after Roland Garros, we went to Greece and we started getting into pottery so we started picking up all of those activities that, it’s kind of fun I would say.

“It’s something that we never did and doing it together, it helps us expand and see a different perspective of life so we are very open-minded to these kinds of things.”

It’s no surprise that ‘Tsitsidosa’ are trying to find new ways to enjoy themselves away from tennis. Since their reunion, they have taken a different, private approach to their relationship.

The 25-year-old and the Spaniard initially had a very public relationship, starting when they updated their Spotify accounts last June. They changed their profile pictures to selfies of them together and made a joint playlist, sparking speculation that they were dating.

Their relationship was later confirmed and they have gushed about one another in on-court interviews ever since. But Badosa shared her regrets after they reunited last month following their brief split. “I mean, it's already our private life. I think one of the things that I didn't like or we didn't like is that it was very public, so now we want to keep things a little bit more on our own,” she said.

They did plan to play mixed doubles at the French Open but had to withdraw when rain delays meant that their match kept getting postponed while Tsitsipas was also juggling the singles and men’s doubles. But they could finally join forces at Wimbledon this year.
