Eugenie Bouchard’s love of mixing the celebrity lifestyle with tennis seemed apparent when the Canadian star made an hilarious slip-up while working at Queen’s. Bouchard, who has scaled down her commitments on the regular circuit since failing to qualify for the 2023 US Open, announced this month she was starting work on the Tennis Channel.

And the 30-year-old was on duty last week as world No.5 Taylor Fritz took on Milos Raonic in the quarter-finals.

The American duly impressed in a 6-3 6-3 win, as Bouchard’s compatriot failed to build on his win in the previous round over home favourite Cameron Norrie.

Bouchard pinpointed where she felt things went wrong for Raionic. However, she proceeded to leave fans, and fellow pundit Steve Weissman, in stitches as she inadvertently suggested the 33-year-old had been beaten by a world-famous pop star.

"Yeah he did not do nearly as many aces as that previous match, not even getting to double digits, just at nine aces here,” she said. “Obviously, a formidable opponent and returner in Taylor Swift - Taylor Fritz - oh my god.”

The 2014 Wimbledon finalist saw the funny side of her blunder and cited her admiration of Swift as the reason for the mistake. "We all know what I'm used to saying when I say Taylor, what I usually follow it by," she explained.

Night Two Of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - London, UK

Bouchard could be forgiven for the slip, given how topical Swift currently is worldwide. The 34-year-old is currently on an international tour, and having performed in the UK is set to put on three shows at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin this weekend before heading to Amsterdam.

And one enthused spectator during a recent show was Iga Swiatek, who travelled to Liverpool to watch the American sensation. The French Open champion later revealed Swift had even arranged for a hand-written note to be passed on to the Polish star, congratulating her on retaining her title in Paris.

Bouchard also referenced that incident, and pleased with Swiatek to make the message public. “Did we see the whole note? I really think we should see the whole note," she added.

The former world No.5 then proceeded to poke fun at herself, posting on X to her 1.5million followers: “Not me calling ⁦@Taylor_Fritz97 @taylorswift13 live on air.”

Fellow social media duly joined in the fun. @kgmdus was one to embrace the error, posting: “It's inevitable. You would have to be his mother not to call him Swift at least once.” @knivesoutxo added: “The way you said it so naturally.”
