Billionaire tennis star Emma Navarro may have exited the French Open early, but she still earned the tidy sum of around £213,000. World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka overcame the 23-year-old 6-2, 6-3 to book her place in the quarter-final against Mirra Andreeva.

Navarro is one of the newest players to emerge in the WTA, but she also has one of the most interesting back stories in the sport. She is the daughter of billionaire businessman Ben Navarro, who is believed to boast a net worth of around £1.18billion.

Nevertheless, Navarro is earning her own wealth and building her own future in the tennis world. While her time at Roland Garros came to an abrupt end against the experienced Belarussian, her latest pay packet suggests the only way is up.

The aproximate £213,000 prize means her career earnings this year are currently hovering around £1.2m. Considering her total career prize money in tennis is believed to be approximately £1.4m, 2024 has been an outstanding year for her.

Sabalenka knew she had been in a battle with the American. While speaking to the crowd after her victory was secured, last year's World No.1 said: "I played really tough battle against her at Indian Wells, was really tough match, was going here today ready to fight for every point.

"Was really full on rallies I knew I would have to work really hard to get this win. I’m happy with the level I played today, she’s such a tough opponent."

While Navarro is evidently trying to make a name for herself, she does not shy away from her father's immense wealth. As well as his financial support, she has also previously claimed her mentality and attitude to her game derived from him.

In an interview with Tennis Channel, via Honey, when asked about her father, she said: "I've got to give a lot of credit to my dad. He's probably the smartest guy I know.

"He's dropped a lot of knowledge and wisdom on my siblings and I over the years. He's taught me a bunch about the perspective I want to take into things, especially on-court stuff."

In March this year, Navarro reached a career high singles ranking of No.20. Before she stepped onto the professional circuit, she played college tennis at Virginia and went on to win the NCAA Singles Championship in 2021.

Her first WTA Tour title was also won at the start of this year, picking up the 2024 Hobart International title, overcoming Elise Mertens 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 to win. While she was knocked out of the French Open in the singles, she remains in the competition in the doubles.

Navarro is playing alongside fellow American Diana Schnaider, facing Monica Niculescu and Cristina Bucsa in the third round.
