Stefanos Tsitsipas says he was 'forced' to drink after Laver Cup
Stefanos Tsitsipas says he was made to drink alcohol during wild Laver Cup celebrations alongside Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
Team Europe won the exhibition event for a third straight year and Federer challenged his team-mates to a last-man standing competition.
A video surfaced on Instagram of all the players chanting Tsitsipas’ name at the afterparty as they encouraged him to down a beverage.
And the Greek’s mother was not happy when she found out.
In a blog posted on the 21-year-old’s YouTube channel, his mum is captured saying: “Is it true what I hear it and what I’m worrying now, have you tried one drop of alcohol?"
Tsitsipas replied “It was half a glass of vodka and coke.
"It was disgusting, it was so bad, I didn't like it at all.
“Mama, they forced me to do it. I will show you the video — they were screaming my name.”
To which his mum added: “Are you so innocent? Say tomato juice.”
But Tsitsipas’ dad defended his corner.
“It’s gin,” he said. “You will like gin. Gin-tonic might be good for you.”
Tsitsipas started the video by reflecting on his time in Geneva.
“Good morning everyone from Geneva,” he said.
“I just woke up from an unbelievable night. Honestly, I don’t know what to say.
“I live things, I saw things and I experienced all these beautiful, unforgettable moments, which honestly I don’t know I cannot exchange it for anything.”
