LeBron James to Lakers: The huge hint Cavs star WILL join LA in free agency
LEBRON JAMES looks set to be joining the Lakers because his 13-year-old son, Bronny James, has “committed” to Sierra Canyon in Los Angeles next year.
That’s according to 2006 NBA champion and nine-time All-Star Gary Payton, who believes LeBron James will want to be close to his eldest son.
James faces a huge decision in the next few weeks as he has until June 29 to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It is widely expected he will do so and therefore become a free agent where a host of teams up and down the league want to hold discussions with the three-time champion.
But it looks as though James could have already decided he will go to the Lakers this summer after Payton confidently stated LeBron James Jr. (known by many as Bronny) will enrol at Sierra Canyon in LA.
I think he wants to be around his son a lot so that’s going to play a key factor
“Anything can happen,” Payton told Black Sports Online.
“His son just committed to Sierra Canyon, which is in the valley of LA.
“That’s where his son’s gonna go to school with Scottie Pippen’s son and Kenyon Martin’s son.
Wade: LeBron will base his future on lifestyle not basketball
“If everybody looks at it, with a son at that age, you don’t want to be away from him for a long period of time.
“I think he needs a father during that time. I don’t think LeBron is that type of parent. I think he wants to be around his son a lot so that’s going to play a key factor.
“He’s been saying this for the last year or so; his family is going to dictate where he goes.”
