LeBron James launches scathing attack on US president Donald Trump
LEBRON JAMES has sent a powerful message to US president Donald Trump after the Philadelphia Eagles had their White House invite rescinded.
A small group from the Eagles were expected to celebrate their Super Bowl triumph at the White House this week.
However, the US president revoked the invite, citing the ongoing national anthem debate at NFL games.
But a statement from the White House released earlier today reported that “the vast majority of the Eagles decided to abandon their fans”.
And James, who has often not held back in launching an attack on the president's views, insists NBA teams will also knock back any invitation to the White House with Trump still in command.
“It’s typical of him. I’m not surprised,” James said.
“I know no matter who wins this series no one wants to get invited.
“It won’t be Cleveland or Golden State going.
“We have a lot of freedom in our country and guys - men or female - have the right to do what they want to do in a very respectful manner and I think if they decided they don’t want to go then they have the right.
“I think as long as he’s in office then the communication is going to continue to happen.
“It’s a lot of things we believe in as Americans that we don’t feel that he’s for.
“It’s a lot of people that believe he’s not for the people or doing things that’s right by the people.
“It’s not surprising hearing the news with the Eagles but I think more importantly we shouldn’t as Americans, and especially people in Philadelphia, let that news take away from that unbelievable team did and accomplish.
”Let's not let someone uninviting you from their house take away from their championship...
“Winning a championship is way bigger than getting invited to the White House, especially with him in it."
