Taylor is in touching distance of his 17th world title.
The Englishman swatted aside Jamie Lewis 6-1 in the evening’s first semi-final tonight.
Taylor, who beat Van Gerwen in the 2013 final, could face the Dutchman again should the Green Machine prevail against Rob Cross.
Van Gerwen beat Raymond van Barneveld 5-4 in the quarter-finals last night.
But Taylor has revealed he was ‘lucky’ and admitted he would rather face Van Barneveld or Adrian Lewis in the final if given the chance.

He said: “I think Michael [Van Gerwen] was a bit fortunate.
