BDO World Darts Championship: Scott Waites comes from behind to beat Mark McGeeney
SCOTT WAITES was left a relieved man yesterday as he hit back from 2-0 down to stay in the BDO World Championships.

Defending champion Waites finally came through to beat Mark 'Gladiator' McGeeney 4-2 at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green and knew how close he was to going out.
"I cannot believe I have won that game," said Waites. "Mark was a far better player to start with and I went into that first break 2-0 down.
"I always fight and battle but I couldn't find anything.

"One of my friends backstage said 'Don't worry, you haven't done much wrong.' Of course, I thought the opposite. After that, I tried to compose myself."
McGeeney won the opening two sets 3-0 and then Waites hit back.
But McGeeney missed the chance to go 3-1 up in sets and Waites drew level before progressing into the last eight.

McGeeney said: "When Scott get confident, he becomes unstoppable. That is why he is the world champion."
Van Tergouw’s victory adds to him winning the Winmau World Masters boys title and Finder Darts Masters Youth crown last year.
