Leeds Rhinos chief issues hands off warning to interested parties for James Segeyaro
LEEDS RHINOS have flatly denied that star hooker James Segeyaro is to quit the club.
Huge brawl erupts in rugby league game between Swinton and Leigh
Segeyaro joined from Penrith Panthers in July for the remainder of the 2016 season, making ten appearances and scoring six tries.
He then signed a deal until the end of 2018 but has been strongly linked with a return to the NRL at Cronulla Sharks.
James Segeyaro will not be allowed to leave Leeds Rhinos
The Papua New Guinea-born hooker is currently holidaying in Sydney, but Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington has travelled to meet Segeyaro to seek assurances over the player’s future.
Hetherington said: “There has been interest from NRL clubs in James and one club in particular but I have explained to them that Leeds Rhinos are not prepared to consider a release or transfer so that is the end of the matter.
“I met up with James here in Sydney and he is in good condition and due back with us on January 3.”
Segeyaro is on extended leave but has been given a similar training programme to that of his team-mates during pre-season.
