Australia's Neil Robertson hits maximum on way to second UK Championship title
NEIL ROBERTSON was the maximum man last night as he claimed a glorious second Betway UK Championship title.
Neil Robertson secured his second UK Championship with victory over Liang Wenbo
The Australian beat China's Liang Wenbo 10-5 to make it back-to-back major tournament wins and pocket the £150,000 top prize.
But the world No 3 also lit up the Barbican Centre in York with the first 147 maximum break in any of the Triple Crown event finals.
That earned him another £44,000, and with £100,000 at last month's Champion of Champions it will be a happy Christmas in the Robertson home.
Ironically Robertson was sitting in the other chair when Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh missed the final black of a 147 bid last week.
Robertson's 10-5 win secured him a £150,000 jackpot prize
Liang played his part - and a run to the final put him in January's Masters for the first time.
Robertson, celebrating with young son Alexander, said: "He should be getting some good presents this year.
"When I potted the pink I was thinking how mad it would be if I missed a final black after one was missed against me.
"I just took a few deep breaths and I was so glad to see it go in. I've never made one in a big final, it's a dream come true. I threw everything at Liang but he kept coming back at me."
