Mo Farah's next target is the marathon
MO Farah has set his sights on becoming the world’s best marathon man after his sensational World Championships double gold triumph.
But Farah, who will debut in the London Marathon in April, said: “When you are at the top you can’t hide.
“Everybody sees what you do and is after you. I’ve worked harder this year than last year to target the World Championships medals.
“I’ve got to the top on the track. Now I’m going to try and get to the top of the mountain in the marathon.
“I am starting at the very bottom. I’ve only ever run half a marathon before, never got to the end of a marathon, so that is my challenge.
“I have always wanted to run the London marathon, I am excited by it. I don’t know how I am going to go, what will happen. I might be not good at it.
“I’m not No1 at the marathon. As an athlete you look at a good challenge, and this is going to happen in the city where I grew up. I will make a few mistakes and learn from it.
“There will be a target on my back. People will know who I am. They will be thinking ‘Mo is good at track but let’s make sure he’s not there at the end of the marathon’.”
Farah’s only race for the rest of this year will be the Great North Run in a month’s time and then will come his preparation for the marathon followed by a probable attack on the 10,000m and 5,000m world records in 2015.
