Kevin Durant injury: Steve Kerr drops SHOCK update on Warriors star in NBA Finals
KEVIN DURANT could make a shock return from injury for Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors for the Golden State Warriors.
NBA: Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant discuss future at Warriors
The Warriors tied the series in Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors in what was another tightly contested affair.
Toronto opened up a 12-point lead in the first half, but the Warriors quickly took back control with an incredible 20-0 run between the second and third quarter.
The Raptors never recovered and Golden State now hold homecourt advantage heading back to Oakland for Games three and four.
Both teams have a few days rest before returning to action, with Game 3 taking place on June 6, 2am BST.
But the question on many NBA fans' lips will be whether Durant can make his return from injury then.
Since suffering a calf strain against the Houston Rockets last month, the Warriors have been careful about predicting a date for Durant to make his comeback.
He is yet to feature in a full team practice, but has been on the floor doing individual on-court activities.
The fact he is yet to partake in full contact workouts suggests Game 3 might come too soon.
But Kerr suggests Durant could be ready to play if he takes part in just one practice.
“It’s feasible,” Kerr said.
“But again, it’s really a day-to-day thing.
"If we had a crystal ball, we would have known a long time ago what we were dealing with.
"It’s just an injury; there’s been a lot of gray area.
"So literally it’s just day to day and how the progress is coming.
"And at this point he’s still not ready.”
He added: "Kevin is fine. "He didn't go through our shootaround.
"He's with our trainer, so he's out obviously. Another day, another step forward in his rehab progress."
