Lakers to move for Carmelo Anthony after Bulls trade says pundit
Carmelo Anthony to snub Lakers?
Carmelo Anthony has been told to snub the Los Angeles Lakers in favour of joining the San Antonio Spurs.
NBA legend Kenny Smith believes the Spurs would be a great fit for Anthony - and he should pick them over the Lakers.
“I would think that he would also fit with the Spurs,” Smith said on NBA on TNT.
“The respect factor for Popovich is going to be there.
“He’s going to be able to sell what Carmelo is hearing.
“Carmelo will understand his role clearly from day one when he walks in.
“They need scoring off the bench. They play a slowed-down game, they don’t really shoot a bunch of threes other than the young guys.”
Anthony Davis trade deadline update
There is absolutely no chance Anthony Davis will be traded before the February 7 deadline.
That’s according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports the Pelicans have no interest in letting Davis leave during the season.
Davis has been heavily linked with a move away from New Orleans this entire season.
Rumours linking him to the Los Angeles Lakers intensified earlier this season when he signed with Klutch Sports Agency, the same representation as LeBron James.
And after the Pelicans played the Lakers the first time this campaign back in December, Davis was spotted having dinner with James.
The Pelicans are struggling this season and there has even been some suggestion the Lakers may look to try and strike a deal before the trade deadline.
However, Wojnarowski has shut down any hope the Lakers may have of getting Davis on their roster this season.
“There is a zero-percent chance the Pelicans trade Anthony Davis before the deadline,” he said.
Pistons duo garnering interest
The Detroit Pistons could potentially be busy before the trade deadline.
A report from the Free Press states several teams have registered an interest in Reggie Bullock and Ish Smith.
Both players are on expiring contracts, but the report adds Detroit are hoping to re-sign the role players this summer.
