Lakers can land Anthony Davis trade if they offer these three players - NBA expert
THE LOS ANGELES LAKERS have a better chance of trading for Anthony Davis than the Boston Celtics, because their proposal is more realistic.
NBA: Lakers will do ‘everything’ to get Davis, says pundit
That is what Sports Illustrated pundit Ryan Asselta believes.
Davis has been linked with a move away from the New Orleans Pelicans for some time now.
The Pelicans are 12th in the Western Conference, and are looking unlikely to make the playoffs.
And some believe that Davis, who is regarded as one of the best two-way players in the league, will choose to leave the Pelicans in order to try and win the NBA title.
He can sign a supermax contract with the Pelicans this summer worth $239.5million (£187.2m).
But many believe that the star will opt to leave, with the Lakers and the Celtics both interested.
Sports Illustrated believes that both franchises will offer up a host of young stars, with the Lakers giving up Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brandon Ingram, while the Celtics will give up a package including Jayson Tatum.
Asselta explained why he believes the Lakers will still have the best chance of landing Davis.
“I think the Lakers trade is better because it’s more realistic.
“I don’t think the Celtics are going to part with Jayson Tatum.
“I don’t think that Brad Stevens and Danny Ainge are going to blow up a team that is built to win right now.
“That is unless they’re willing to dump all of those first round picks that they have in order to get Davis.
“I think if New Orleans gets Ingram, they can build a little bit around him, then take those picks and trade up.
“Maybe trade up for a first round pick, and go up from there.
“[If they] build around Ingram, I think that’s more realistic.
“I don’t think Jayson Tatum is going anywhere.”
