LeBron James: Lakers star to push for surprise trade? Kyrie Irving revelation made
LEBRON JAMES suggested the Cleveland Cavaliers should replace Kyrie Irving with Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers last season.
The NBA legend reportedly asked the Cavs to look at Lillard as a replacement for Irving.
Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report claims LeBron’s wish was never fulfilled though.
“League sources say that when James became convinced Irving couldn’t be persuaded to stay in Cleveland, he suggested to the Cavs front office that it deal Irving to the Blazers for All-Star point guard Damian Lillard.
“The Cavs never called the Blazers, but James' interest has led to speculation about the Lakers trading for Lillard.”
LeBron’s opinion of Lillard could see the Los Angeles Lakers make a surprise move for Lillard.
But the point guard insists he is happy in Portland at the moment.
“I love where I am,” Lillard said.
“I play for a great organisation. I’m not looking for nothing.
NBA pundit defends Durant’s ’toxic’ LeBron James comments
“I think we’d complement each other well, but the only way that ever happens is if my team decides they don’t want me no more.
“I’m trying to build something here.”
The Lakers continued their impressive form last night with a 121-113 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
The result leaves them fifth in the Western Conference.
LeBron James scored 42 points in total with six assists and give rebounds to his name.
The Lakers return to action against the Spurs once again on Saturday at 1.30am UK time.
Lillard will next be on court against the Phoenix Suns overnight at 3am.
