NBA news: Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant to Lakers development, LeBron James prediction
NBA news - Express Sport is on hand to bring you all the latest rumours and gossip coming out of the league.
Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant to the Lakers?
Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant have been linked with moves to the Los Angeles Lakers, however, NBA expert Chris Broussard reckons two things could stop the deals.
“I was in conversation with Jarrett [Jack] since these tweets, this is not inside information,” Broussard said on Skip and Shannon Undisputed.
“He hasn’t talked to any of these guys, but it’s just his personal feeling.
“Now, the players involved, we know it’s feasible.
“This is not like some pie in the sky… financially it could work because KD could go to the Lakers as a free agent and if AD demands a trade and says ‘I’m only going to the Lakers’, they could give up Ingram, Kuzma...
“People have told me KD’s always wanted to compete against LeBron and beat him and that’s true, but the Lakers pitch would be this, ‘it’s not a one-on-one match-up.
“This is not you against LeBron, you’ve beaten LeBron twice and LeBron is still viewed as the first or second best player by most people of all time’.
“‘This hasn’t damaged LeBron’s legacy, in fact most people still think LeBron is the best player in the world even though you’ve beaten him twice so KD it’s past that’.
“This beyond that and they would say also, ‘don’t look at this as I’m following LeBron, when you join the Lakers, you’re joining Magic [Johnson], Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar], Shaq [Shaquille O’Neal], Kobe [Bryant] and we saw LeBron just become the fifth leading scorer of all-time - five of the top six have been Lakers.
“This is all part of the pitch.
“The one thing KD will have to get past is what other people think because we’ve said it before, the perception ‘you jumped on the bandwagon in Golden State.’
“Now you’re going to play with LeBron you’re jumping on the bandwagon there. That would be the biggest thing to get past.”
LeBron James prediction
LeBron James will become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, NBA pundit Tas Melas claims.
“It isn't news until he's number one,” he said of James, who is currently No 5 on the list, on The Starters podcast.
“And he's going to get to number one.
“That's why it isn't really news, because he's on his way to being number one.”
