NBA news: Warriors star CONFIRMS Kevin Durant will leave after Draymond Green bust-up
KEVIN DURANT will leave the Golden State Warriors after his bust-up with Draymond Green, one of his team-mates has confirmed.
The 30-year-old was involved in a heated argument with Green during Golden State’s defeat at the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.
Durant wanted Green to pass him the ball in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, however, Green instead dribbled forward before failing to get a shot up.
Green reportedly called Durant a b**** on numerous occasions, while also slamming the two-time champion over his free agency plans ahead of next summer.
Warriors star Green was suspended for one game without pay for his outburst in LA, which spilled over into the locker room.
With what was said, there is already no way Durant is coming back
And according to The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II, an anonymous Warriors star has revealed Durant will become a free agent and move on summer.
Thompson II claims the Warriors player said: "With what was said, there is already no way Durant is coming back.
"The only hope is that they can say this summer, 'See, KD. We've got your back. We protected you from Draymond.'"
Durant can become a free agent next summer, with the New York Knicks, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clippers linked with the small forward.
And Durant’s spat with Green has casted further doubt over his future with the Warriors.
Durant is hoping to win his third NBA championship in as many seasons this time out.
And many expect the former Oklahoma City Thunder superstar, who was also named Finals MVP for the last two years, to leave the Warriors if they win it all again.
Durant and the Warriors are back in action on Thursday night against the Houston Rockets (1am tip off).
