Ramos and Terry, meanwhile, chipped in with over 20 goals between them during their time under Mourinho.
And Martin claims that is the true reason why Mourinho is determined to bring Mina to United.
He told the Manchester Evening News: "He’s really good in the air, he’s got a really good scoring rate and Mourinho has always liked those defenders who can score goals like John Terry and Sergio Ramos so I think he is definitely the right fit for United if they can get him.
“It’s pretty obvious that he would bring goals from set-pieces. We saw at the World Cup how important this aspect of play is in modern football and Mina was one of the best at that.
“At Palmeiras he averaged a goal every nine games and obviously in the World Cup it was three goals in three games.

“Tactical awareness is perhaps something he is lacking in, given that he has struggled to adapt to different Barca systems.
“He was out of sorts particularly when he was playing in inexperienced teams like against Celta Vigo where Valverde made wholesale changes in preparation for the Copa del Rey final. He was alongside [Thomas] Vermaelen and he was really out of his depth.
"When he was alongside [Gerard] Pique with [Sergio] Busquets ahead of him then he was OK but in unfamiliar systems with players that aren’t as experienced he was kind of all over the place.
“In three of the five games Mina played games for Barcelona they conceded seven goals; in the whole season they conceded 29 goals so the stats aren’t very good."
