Liverpool news: Xherdan Shaqiri ready for Salah, Mane and Firmino battle
LIVERPOOL summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri is ready to compete with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.
The 26-year-old joined Liverpool in a £13.5million deal from Stoke earlier this month.
Klopp's regular front three will be difficult to dislodge though, after they scored 91 goals between them in all competitions last season.
But Shaqiri insists he is up for the challenge and trusts his new manager will give him plenty of opportunities.
"It's always difficult, you always have competition everywhere in the world," said the Swiss international.
"We are a big team, there are big players here and everyone is going to fight for his place, but in the end we have to be successful as a team.
“You need every player to be successful in a long season.
"The coach knows my quality and he knows I can play lots of different positions in front.
“I think that is going to be positive for the team and we can be more variable in the games."

Shaqiri is also hoping for Champions League success with his new club having previously won the competition with Bayern Munich.
"I hope I can repeat that because I know how it feels to win the Champions League," he said.
"It is really amazing and I think we can do it.
“We have good quality - especially with the new players that have been brought in - they have very good quality.”
