Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho NOT HAPPY with his squad
MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho says he is unhappy with his squad less than three weeks before the transfer window closes.
Manchester United have signed just three new players this summer.
A promising pre-season for transfer activity has so far thrown up Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
Mourinho revealed earlier on United’s tour of the USA that he is keen for more new recruits.
He is also missing a host of players due to their World Cup commitments this summer.
And the Portuguese boss admits he is frustrated not to have the squad he wants for pre-season.
Of course I am not happy
Asked if he is happy with his squad, Mourinho said: “No, I got good facilities as always, I got incredible commitment of the people that are involved with the process of preparing a good pre-season.
“I am happy with the matches, the evolution of the matches but I don’t have the players to work.
“I don’t have the majority of the players that are going to be in the squad on August 9 when the market closes.
“Of course I am not happy.”
Manchester United drew 0-0 with San Jose in their first friendly of the tour on Sunday.
They play AC Milan at 4.05am BST on Thursday.
Express Sport understands Mourinho has this week been in talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward regarding transfer targets.
He also has a number of injuries to deal with, while Alexis Sanchez’s trip to the United States was in the balance until his visa situation was sorted.
A number of English clubs are touring for International Champions Cup friendlies and Mourinho pointed to their missing players when discussing his squad situation.
“If you look to the players Chelsea and Liverpool have in pre-season, especially these two teams, also Arsenal I think if you compare you see the difference of the situation,” he said.
“City and Tottenham in the similar situation as we are.”
