Liverpool transfer news: Why Nabil Fekir's World Cup performance will please Reds
LIVERPOOL may find it easier to sign Nabil Fekir due to his World Cup performance this summer.
Liverpool are keen to sign Nabil Fekir: Football finance expert
The Frenchman has hardly featured in Didier Deschamps' side during his country's journey to the final.
Liverpool had hoped to sign the playmaker before he jetted off to Russia last month.
However, an 11th hour complication after Fekir's medical put an abrupt stop to the deal.
The attacking midfielder still wants a his 'dream' Merseyside move this summer but the fear was that Lyon would hike up the price on the back of a strong World Cup.
But football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes the French club will not be able to charge an excessive amount for Fekir after the tournament.
As far as Liverpool are concerned – never say never
"Lyon know they can't hike him around Europe because of his poor World Cup performance," he told the Daily Star.
"As far as Liverpool are concerned – never say never.
"Liverpool have certainly got the funds to buy him, they are keen and I'm sure he's keen too.
"It's more a case of whether they are willing to negotiate a bit more on price."
Fekir has reportedly met Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas twice during this World Cup, most recently after France's 1-0 semi-final win over Belgium.
The French owner was in the dressing room with Deschamps and his players to celebrate the win earlier this week.
Fekir's advisor Jean-Pierre Bernes has also met Aulas to discuss the collapsed move to Anfield in a bid to get talks back on track over the £53m switch.
