And it took just five minutes for Gareth Southgate’s side to draw first blood against Croatia.
Dele Alli was fouled just outside the area by Luka Modric handing Trippier a brilliant opportunity to fire England ahead.
And the Tottenham ace stepped up and sent a thundering free-kick past the keeper to put England 1-0 up.

Unsurprisingly, England fans up and down the country went nuts celebrating the strike.
None more so than fans at Boxpark in Croydon and those watching big screens in Hyde Park.
Delighted fans were filmed cheering hysterically while a number of pints of beer were thrown in the air as supporters celebrated England’s opener.
Former England ace Martin Keown hailed Trippier’s fantastic goal.
