England vs Tunisia: Rio Ferdinand reveals MAJOR NEGATIVE after World Cup victory
ENGLAND’s lack of ruthlessness in front of goal was a major negative in tonight’s dramatic win over Tunisia.
That is according to former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Gareth Southgate’s side got off to a winning start at the World Cup thanks to a brace from skipper Harry Kane.
Kane headed home a late winner to send the travelling fans and England dugout into raptures.
But it could have been much more comfortable if they did not squander a number of glorious chances, especially in the first half.
I would say this is the major negative from this performance
BBC Sport presenter and former England forward Gary Lineker suggested that was the only negative from the outcome.
“Everything worked pretty well, apart from maybe missing too many chances in the first half,” Lineker said.
Ferdinand agreed and says it could be a problem going forward in the tournament.
“I would say this is the major negative from this performance,” Ferdinand replied.
England's match venue invaded by SWARM of flies
“The chances, they weren’t clinical enough. At this top level, against better teams, you will get punished.
“As we saw in the first half, they scored at the end of the first half.
“Luckily we had a good chance at the end and it was Harry Kane on the end of it to get us the goal.”
