Man Utd news: Rio Ferdinand makes big Javier Hernandez claim
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand says Javier Hernandez is one of the most dedicated players he played with.
Ferdinand played alongside Hernandez for four years at Manchester United.
Chicharito became a cult hero at Old Trafford, scoring 59 times in 157 appearances in a five-year spell.
But he was sent out on loan to Real Madrid in 2014 before leaving permanently to Bayer Leverkusen a year later.
The Mexican is now plying his trade at West Ham but struggled to make a huge impact in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.
Ferdinand, who was speaking ahead of Mexico’s World Cup clash with Germany today, says Hernandez is also one of the most dangerous strikers in the 18-yard area.
You get the ball in the box and there are not many better movers than him
“Yeah he is (old fashioned),” Ferdinand said on ITV.
“You get the ball in the box and there are not many better movers than him.
“He will do double movements, he will go front post to get to the back post, confuse defenders and gets chances and scores goals.
“If you play the ball in behind, he makes runs like this all game. He’s a defender’s nightmare. If you play it in there he will get chances and score goals.
Javier Hernandez shows off incredible scoring skills
“What he is on top of that movement is his dedication to training, to improving, to analysing opponents is second to none.
“That’s why when you see he can come onto into a game, he tunes in straight away because he studies the game every minute, every second.
“Great lad, I spoke to him this morning on text, always happy, comes in with a smile on his face, wants to work hard, wants to train.
“He loves scoring goals and that’s what you want out of your No 9.”
