Celtic transfer news: Crystal Palace eyeing up Hoops midfielder Stuart Armstrong
CRYSTAL PALACE are weighing up a move for Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong, who is going into the last year of his contract at Parkhead.
Palace director of football Dougie Freedman is a big fan of Armstrong and has him on a list of summer targets.
The Eagles are aware that the 26-year-old is stalling over a new deal, and Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has already warned he won’t let talks run on like they did before he signed his last contract.
Freedman, who took Scotland cap James McArthur to Palace, has put Armstrong forward to boss Roy Hodgson. The bidding is likely to have to start in excess of £4million.
The Scottish champions haven’t given up on keeping Armstrong but know there is interest in England, where Southampton have been long-time admirers.
Celtic are still trying to add to their own treble-winning squad.
Talks are still ongoing with Paris Saint-Germain over a permanent contract for Odsonne Edouard, with Parkhead officials confident a deal can be done for the French Under-21 cap who spent last season on loan with the Hoops.
