Jamie Redknapp has paid tribute to Ray Wilkins after the Chelsea hero suffered a heart attack
Wilkins suffered a cardiac arrest at his Cobham home this week and was rushed to hospital where he has been put into an induced coma.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder also hit his head as he fell after suffering the heart attack.
Redknapp played against Wilkins towards the end of the 61-year-old’s career and has worked with him in recent years as a pundit for Sky.
But it was as a child where Redknapp remembers Wilkins most fondly.

Ray was just one of my heroes growing up and to see him in the state that he is at the moment is sad for everybody
“I played against Ray, he was always immaculate on and off the field,” Redknapp said.
“A really classy guy, obviously we are thinking about the family at the moment.
“Very difficult times and we all want him to pull through.
“Ray was just one of my heroes growing up and to see him in the state that he is at the moment is sad for everybody. Fingers crossed and we wish him well.”
Ray Wilkins only appeared on Sky Sports as a pundit earlier this week
Fellow Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison worked under Wilkins when he was a coach at Crystal Palace.
“Yeah he was really good, he helped me here as I was coming through at Palace,” Morrison said.
“He was very good on the training field with me. I had that arrogance and he used to say ‘Clinton calm down’ and he used to help me and pull me to one side.
“He was a very nice bloke and hopefully he does pull through.”
