Everton eyeing LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan
EVERTON are considering signing Landon Donovan on loan for a third time to help maintain their Champions League push.
Manager Roberto Martinez is an admirer of the LA Galaxy striker.
Donovan, 31, enjoyed three-month spells at Goodison Park in 2010 and 2012 under former boss David Moyes and the American is keen to prepare for the World Cup by using the end-of-season break in the MLS to come to England again.
Everton have been targeting wide-men in January and Spartak Moscow’s Aiden McGeady is another to interest Martinez, although he could sign a pre-contract with the Merseyside club in the new year ahead of a free-transfer switch to them over the summer.
The new MLS season begins on March 8 and if Donovan signs he would be eligible for nine matches in the Premier League.
Everton face a Stoke side who are missing defender Robert Huth, who underwent a knee operation yesterday.
