Alex Iwobi dropped vs Tottenham: Arsenal legend Keown makes MASSIVE claim over real reason
ARSENAL star Alex Iwobi has finally been punished for going on a night out less than 48 hours before a game by being dropped against Tottenham today.
Alex Iwobi was dropped for Arsenal's visit to Tottenham
That is the opinion of former Arsenal defender turned pundit Martin Keown.
Iwobi was filmed partying in the early hours of Saturday 6 January, the day before the shock 4-2 FA Cup loss to Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was angry at Iwobi but still selected him for the following match, the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
The Nigerian has been a regular starter in the Premier League since but was left out of the starting XI for the trip to Tottenham today.
He’s not playing today and they’re might be something in that. He has a long memory Arsene Wenger.
And Keown reckons his late-night antics over a month ago is a reason for it.
“Interesting with Iwobi, people said he wasn’t disciplined,” Keown said on BT Sport ahead of today's clash.
“But he’d be gutted today.
“I said that Wenger would wait before he hits a player for discipline.
