Norwegian defender Riise, who spent seven seasons at Liverpool, will be
aiming to help Roma avoid a fifth successive setback on English soil in
four seasons after losses to Chelsea, Manchester United and
Middlesbrough.
Riise, a Champions League winner with Liverpool, said: “I’ve played in
England before and I know the English style of football but it is
important that we play the Roma style of football.
“If we do that we are good enough to win but we need, of course, a bit
of luck and we need to play our best because Arsenal are physical and
very good.
“This is a fantastic place to play, a fantastic stadium and so we have to enjoy it.
“We should not be scared or think it is against us. We must enjoy it
and I think the players are looking forward to it. People say Arsenal
are having a bad time but I’ve seen a few games lately and they play fantastic football. They have great technical players.”
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti said: “We have often lost when we have
come to England but the statistics are not important. We have worked to
improve the team and know it’s important to win.”
