New Northampton Town manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink at Stamford Bridge last season
The Dutchman, 45, has been appointed on a three-year deal by the Cobblers following the sacking of Justin Edinburgh last week.
He previously led Burton Albion to the League Two title after launching his managerial career with Royal Antwerp. But he has been out of work since being sacked by QPR last November.
He is a manager who injects confidence and belief into his players
Northampton Town chairman Kelvin Thomas
Northampton chairman Kelvin Thomas said: “Jimmy is an inspirational leader, someone who has had success at this level in the recent past and we think he is a very good fit here.
“He is a manager who injects confidence and belief into his players and someone who we think can begin to unlock the potential of what we believe is a good squad we have here.”
