Delap was shown a straight red but the referee missed Wright-Phillips' retaliatory kick
The Manchester Citymidfielder will be forced to sit out Premier League games against Portsmouth, Liverpool and West Ham.
The 27-year-old was charged after video footage showed he kicked Stoke’s Rory Delap during City’s defeat at the Britannia Stadium on January 31.
Referee Martin Atkinson initially missed the incident, but after watching a replay of the match he informed the FA should have shown Wright-Phillips a red card.
Delap was sent off in the 38th minute of the game at the Britannia
Stadium after kicking the ball at Wright-Phillips’ stomach as he lay on
the floor.
Wright-Phillips could have walked, too, if the referee had seen his little swipe at Delap as he got back on his feet.
The ex-Chelsea player has however been cleared to play in the two-legged UEFA Cup last-32 encounter with FC Copenhagen later this month.
