City wait on Kaka as Zabaleta sinks Wigan
MANCHESTER City’s move for AC Milan midfielder Kaka was still on today as new signing Pablo Zabaleta scored his first goal for the club with a 1-0 victory over Wigan.
The Argentinian showed good skill to rattle home a shot from 20 yards in the 51st minute after Daniel Sturridge’s cross had only been half-cleared.
A minute later City were reduced to 10 men when skipper Richard Dunne was sent off and Wigan should have equalised only for Amr Zaki to head over from close range.
Meanwhile AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has admitted it would be “difficult” to keep Kaka if reports of the mega salary Manchester City are prepared to offer the Brazilian prove true.
City are in negotiations with the Italian giants over the transfer of the Brazilian playmaker in a deal which, if successful, would smash the world record transfer fee Real Madrid paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.
Kaka’s father will meet his son and City officials next week to discuss the move, with the Eastlands club thought to be offering the 26-year-old a £500,000 a week wage packet.
