The centre-back's performances have attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham, Express Sport understands.
And Carragher believes Boro will demand a large fee for his signature.
Asked if he's been the one shining light at Boro this season, Carragher said on Sky Sports: "Oh without a doubt.

"We know his relationship obviously with the chairman and being a local lad as well.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is chasing a new centre-back, with John Terry set to leave in the summer.
