Martin Keown: Why there were shades of Chelsea in England’s defeat to Germany

And Keown thinks the Three Lions’ organisational skills were on a similar level to Chelsea.
“With England playing three at the back and dressed in blue, this was like watching Chelsea but without Eden Hazard and Diego Costa!,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“As England's average positions show, the players knew their roles and responsibilities.
“They had clearly been very well drilled by Gareth Southgate's assistant Steve Holland, who is a coach at Stamford Bridge.

“There is nothing wrong with emulating things that work well at club level and Gary Cahill, Kyle Walker and Dele Alli are used to the roles Southgate gave them.
“Whenever Germany had a goal kick or throw-in there was a real determination to win the ball back and retain it. England were workmanlike.”
England turn their attentions to their World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Sunday (5pm).
