The Real Madrid star has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this month with Antonio Conte interested.
Attempts to bring the Colombian to west London may be put on hold however with the Blues thought to be put off by his estimated £60m price tag.
However, Sutton believes they should use the money made from Oscar’s departure to secure his signature.

He could be the difference between finishing as runners-up and winning the title
He told the Daily Mail: “Antonio Conte has money to spend following Oscar's £52m move to China.
“I have heard people say Chelsea need another defender but they have Kurt Zouma coming back and John Terry as back-up.
“James would give them a top-quality replacement should any of their key forwards get injured and the transfer would be a real statement of intent to Chelsea's rivals.
