Liverpool midfielder set to stay despite January interest from Inter Milan
LUCAS LEIVA looks set to remain at Liverpool beyond the January transfer window.
Lucas Leiva looks set to stay at Liverpool
Reports in Italy suggest that the Brazilian midfielder has already undergone a medical at Inter Milan ahead of a transfer this month.
But the Liverpool Echo claim these reports are wide of the mark.
Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Leiva but is prepared to offload the midfielder
It is said that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to sell Lucas, but only if there is an offer on the table that suits both parties.
Inter apparently want to take Lucas on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, but have not committed to the idea of making his transfer permanent, so a deal now appears unlikely.
Leiva has 18 months remaining on his Liverpool contract
Lucas, who came off the bench late on in the Reds' 1-0 win over Manchester City yesterday, has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield.
His late cameo against City was just his ninth appearance in the Premier League this season of which seven of those have been as a substitute.
Lucas has made 327 appearances for Liverpool and has 18 months remaining on his Anfield contract.
