United’s interest in De Vrij dates back to when Louis van Gaal was in charge.
And according to Italian paper Il Tempo, De Vrij has decided he wants to leave at the end of the season.
It is thought both the Blues and Bayern are prepared to sign him, and a big-money offer could tempt him to leave six months early.

Chelsea wouldn’t have any problems signing De Vrij, having already sold Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for £60m.
De Vrij has been a mainstay of the Lazio defence after missing last season with a knee injury.
He is currently under contract with the Serie A outfit until 2018.
