Philippe Coutinho picked up an ankle injury in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Sunderland towards the end of last month.
It was later confirmed following the results of a scan that he would be out of action for up to six weeks.
Coutinho is hoping to be fit in time for his side's clash against Manchester City on New Year's Eve.

The Reds flew out yesterday to Spain on a short bonding trip.
However, according to the Daily Mirror, Coutinho was allowed to stay behind.
Jurgen Klopp took the decision it was best for Coutinho to skip the mini break to focus on his recovery from injury.

Coutinho is currently working with the club's physio Ruben Pons at Melwood.
Meanwhile, it is thought Joel Matip, could return in time for the clash against West Ham on Sunday (4:30pm).
Klopp will be desperate for a response from his side after their surprise 4-3 defeat against Bournemouth.
