Warburton refuses to open up on Barton’s Rangers future
Jeers rang out around Ibrox at full-time after a result that left the Light Blues nine points behind runaway leaders Celtic, having played a game more.
Joe Garner cancelled out Blair Alston’s stunning opener for Saints, but Warburton fully understood the supporters’ frustrations.
He said: “It’s a demanding crowd because they’re used to success. It’s part of playing for Rangers.
“The players have to recognise it’s an expectant crowd – and quite rightly. We have to respect that and learn from that.

Mark Warburton says the fans are right to boo
“We know what the crowd want, they’re magnificent. If we can play our game and move the ball quickly we’ll create chances, but we fell below standards.
“It was an opportunity missed, at home. It was a poor second half, we weren’t good enough.
“St Johnstone are a very good team, very well organised. We had to dig in.
“It was frustrating for all of us. Damage was done because we expected to take three points.”
St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright was frustrated his side did not come away from Ibrox with a victory.
He said: “It was a good start and an excellent performance.
“But we’re disappointed not to get all three points, particularly on the second-half showing.
“We had a few good chances and I was pleased with the performance.
“It’s never easy coming here. We’re happy to take a point but we could have taken all three.”
Meanwhile, Rangers will hold talks with Joey Barton today in the first steps to resolving the suspended midfielder’s future.
