Jose Mourinho to go to war with Pep Guardiola to sign Real Madrid star - reports in Spain
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly ready to 'go to war' with Manchester City in their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
Toni Kroos is reportedly wanted by both Manchester United and Manchester City
United manager Jose Mourinho is said to be seeking further reinforcements in January after spending £150million on transfers in pre-season.
His counterpart at City, Pep Guardiola, is also supposedly eyeing targets ahead of a mid-season spending spree.
And Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim the two managers are looking at plundering Real of one of their top performers.
The duo famously clashed on the touchlines during Mourinho's three-year stint as Real Madrid manager, when Guardiola was in charge of Barca.
Both bosses were allowed to spend big on players over the summer but while City have won all six of their league games this season to take the lead in the title race, United have faltered.
Toni Kroos - 5 things you need to know
It is claimed Kroos's arrival would help Mourinho strengthen his midfield, even though the boss recently broke the transfer record with Paul Pogba's £89m arrival from Juventus.
Kroos, 26, was tracked by a number of clubs during the summer transfer window but Real were unwilling to sell.
